TUFT.
The simple oak timber frame, with soft rounded features, cocoons the upholstered cushions. The plump cushions transcend their function of comfort and emphasise visual comfortability too, encouraging rest and relaxation. The upholstery is tufted and ruffled expressing a warm yet earthy feeling, whilst highlighting the appreciation of the quality craftsmanship. The mossy green tones encapsulate the hues of nature and invoke feelings of mindfulness, providing a well considered space to peacefully lounge, be present and slow down.
Sit down, slow down, be present.
A chair that explores the values of Slow Living through design, taking inspiration by a means of materiality, function and aesthetics.
Intrigued by the popular shift in consumer mindset to become more conscious and mindful, the overarching philosophy of Slow Living captured a vision for a simpler, more meaningful way of living. In response to the fast-paced nature of the modern and technological world I explored various concepts and themes, intentionally designing to support slower, more mindful lifestyles. I collaborated with local craftsmen, learning from their years of expertise in upholstery, all to capture a panoptic lounge chair that transcends the basic ideas of comfort through ergonomics and intentionally supports and encourages a slower, more mindful lifestyle.
